Outsourcing software development can be a juggling act where cost is not the only consideration. According to Dataquest figures more than 50 percent of outsourcing deals will fall through and 80 percent will have to re-tender. This means that companies either lose a lot of money on a project that does not meet their expectations, or they have to go through the expensive process of re-tendering.
All too often, outsourcing is centered on cost savings and reduction of staff. This "Utility" approach can produce some savings, but the value of these savings falls short of expectations. Using Sciant will reduce the cost of hiring developers by between two and four times, but we think that focusing on a Utility based outsourced model can be disappointing and is responsible for the high failure in today's outsourcing relationships. We believe that an outsourcing company must have a careful understanding of the expected business benefits and build an effective relationship.
Most of our customers find that using our services enables them to redeploy their staff in more exciting and creative work and this which improves the value of their company.
There are countless outsourcing companies who will show you an infinite number of powerpoint presentations saying how good they are. However they are all more or less the same.
At Sciant we don't need to compete like that. Our business comes entirely through recommendations and in our nine year history all our business relationships have worked. You only have to see our client list to see that the sort of people we work with are not easily impressed and yet they not only keep hiring us, but recommend us to their partners.
